Halloween…all that sugar is frightening!
posted by: Kia
Well it’s that time of year when we get to dress up and have some fun trick or treating! The only problem is – our kids get all that candy given to them! A bit of candy isn’t a big deal but if they eat too much of it too often all that sugar leads to a weakened immune system. At this time of year when all those flu and colds are making their rounds it’s really not the best time to be eating loads of sugar!! I’m all for the whole Halloween experience…I just... ....
Be a Food Explorer!

As a Nutritional Consultant, the first thing I get clients to do is to track their fruit and vegetable intake. Simply the best thing you can do to prevent disease in you and your family is to increase the fruit and vegetable intake daily. Each colour of produce contains a different set of phytonutrients – the defense system of the plant – that protects a different system in your body. That’s why eating a rainbow is so key!

Can my toddler use the Today I Ate A Rainbow Chart?
posted by: Kia
Starting at a very young age it is very important that we encourage our little ones to eat a variety of fruits and vegetables. The earlier we start, the easier it should be as they get older, to keep them eating their produce! A parent with an 18 month old could easily use the chart themselves to help keep track of what their toddler has eaten. We simple recommend that the chart not be used by the toddlers themselves until ....

The biggest reward of eating a rainbow is a healthy body! Of course for kids, having a weekly or monthly celebration or a healthy reward is something more tangible that they can work towards. The way it works in our house is, if our daughter eats a rainbow for 6 days in a row, she then gets to choose a fun activity for the family to do together on the 7th day. …

There can be a misconception that healthy eating is expensive, the truth is it can actually save you money! Here are some ideas to keep your costs down while making healthy food choices:
1. Do your grocery shopping once a week. Every time we go to the store for just one or two items we usually end up walking out with a cart full! So basically, by going only once a week, you eliminate the possibility of spending more money!

Serving Sizes for Kids
posted by: Kia
There is a lot of confusion as to what exactly is a serving size and how it changes depending on age. We all have heard that we need 5 to 10 servings of fruits and vegetables a day but just how much is that? It sounds like a lot but in reality it is an achievable daily amount!
....How can I get my child to eat more vegetables and fruit?

The beauty of our Today I Ate A Rainbow Chart is that each colour category has a multitude of produce to choose from! There will be at least one fruit and vegetable from each group that your child will eat!
Here are some tips to get more fruits and vegetables in your child’s diet:
Picky Eater in the House?
posted by: Kia
I want to talk about Picky Eaters!!! We have all had the experience of either being a picky eater or having to feed one. I for one fall under the first category…sorry Mom! Apparently when I was a toddler I would go so far as to pick the carrots out of carrot cake. It’s rather ironic that I would then go on to create a product that is all about getting kids to eat their fruits and veggies! …
