A Bentolicious Lunch
posted by: Kia
We have fun taking turns creating Hannah’s school lunch, sometimes she makes it with me and sometimes with her Daddy! We enjoy putting together different combinations and since we’re the Today I Ate A Rainbow family we’re always sure to include colorful fruits and veggies!!!

We use mini cookie cutters to cut out fun shapes because it just makes everything taste better!
I like to involve Hannah in the lunch making process because I think it’s important for her to feel comfortable in kitchen and learn skills that will last a lifetime! We usually put together her lunches the night before school because our mornings are busy enough! She washes the fruit and veggies, chops things that are easy for her like cucumbers, fills her water bottle and helps out any way that she can. Our goal is for her to make her own lunches so that more we teach her now the sooner that will happen!
The only thing I always do myself, is write her a note
Sometimes it’s a knock knock joke, sometimes it’s just a funny doodle, and others are messages of encouragement and love! It’s a way for me to be a part of her day at school and remind her that she’s special!
Oh and if you’re wondering about the lunchbox in the photo it’s the Go Green Lunchbox…I love that they come with a cute carrying case and a dry erase board for leaving notes!
Happy Healthy Eating!

Very cute & yummy – my Bella would love it too!
Where did you find the lunchbox?
You can order them online or they are available in some stores! Here is their website http://gogreenlunchbox.com/
We like the carrying case, the dry erase board and how easy it is for our daughter to open and close this. We’ve sometimes found that other lunchboxes are actually hard for kids to open/close which is an issue!
The only thing about the Go Green box is that the lid is best to hand wash…we found that ours warped but they were so wonderful to send us a replacement lid!
Wow getting a thumbs up from the Queen of Bento lunches is pretty huge!!! Thanks Cristi!!!!
Thanks. My daughter just started “Mother’s Day Out” once a week, so I’m brand new to the whole school lunch game
I know it might seem strange, but I’ve always loved making school lunches, I feel like it’s a way for me to be a part of Hannah’s day even though I’m not with her!
We don’t always have the time to be fancy or creative but I make sure that I always include a little note
We’ve kept all her notes from each year in a little bag…she’s in grade 3 now so we have a lot of notes!! Hannah will sometimes go through them and it will remind her of different memories of that particular year. So fun!!!
Welcome to the world of school lunches…I hope you like it as much as I do
