How Not to Pass on Your Own Lousy Eating Behaviors to Your Kids!
posted by: Kia
I’m excited to have another guest post by our friends at Zisboombah !!!!
Most people outgrow picky eating behavior. But some don’t. If you are one of those adults who still harbor aversions to many foods and feel most comfortable with eating only a limited variety of foods, you might be interested in strategies for not passing on your own issues to your children. To be clear, we are not talking about... ....
Are kids raised vegan and/or vegetarian less picky?

When I was asked to write a series of guest posts for Dr. Greene’s website one of the topics that I wanted to explore was setting up a culture of eating fruits and vegetables in the home. Serving fruits and vegetables at every meal and for snacks creates a culture in the home that makes eating these things a normal part of the day. When you start this at a young age…ideally when you little ones are babies…then you are training their taste buds to appreciate and enjoy fruits... ....
Tips for Picky Eaters
posted by: Kia
Having a picky eater in the house is not fun! It’s a tough situation for everyone involved. Here are a few tips to try if you find yourself with a picky eater in your house!
1. Remain Calm. If you child picks up on your stress about their eating it can sometimes end up escalating into a battle of wills and can even become a control issue.
2. Serve Small Portions. Their little stomachs do not need much to get full and especially when trying... ....
Top Ten Tips for Getting Your Picky Child to Eat – Part 2
posted by: Dara
Have you ever noticed how magazines always do lists in tens? Parenting magazines are no exception. The headlines grab our attention with ‘Top 10 Tips for Potty Training’ to ’10 Ways to Get a Better Night’s Sleep.’ I’m pretty sure that four or five would be much easier to remember than ten. However, for once I won’t go against the flow. These tips are compiled from my own experience and the experiences of other moms. I’m sure many a parenting... ....
Picky eaters:Parents are talking but not with their kids – Part 1

Once upon a time I was a new wife and pregnant mom determined to make sure my family ate healthy.
At five months pregnant I was digging a vegetable garden ‘” at eight months, I was harvesting … on my due date, I picked blueberries. We bought a food processor, and even before my child was born, I was mindfully preparing his first foods. …
....Eating A Rainbow
posted by: Kia
Eating a Rainbow everyday may be a bit much for some children who rarely eat any fruits and vegetables. For those who have children that are not used to eating a lot of produce, you can easily adjust the goal to Eating a Rainbow every week! The whole focus of this chart is to get kids to willingly eat fruits and vegetables, if this means doing it slowly, then go for it! You can focus on one color per day, then after 5 days, they will have eaten a rainbow! Once they get used to eating... ....
One Bite at a Time!

We’ve been getting some fantastic feedback on how our charts are helping to change eating habits! I think some of my favorite comments are from parents who have “picky eaters” in their house. One parent wrote saying that before they used our Today I Ate A Rainbow chart, their 4 year old son refused, absolutely refused to eat any vegetables. When they put the chart up on their fridge and explained it to their son he was eager to “play”! Since he was so picky they... ....
‘My child won’t eat vegetables…’
posted by: Kia
That is the same phrase I heard from a couple of people who stopped to chat with us at our Today I Ate A Rainbow booth at a Christmas Craft fair last weekend. We had a very positive response to our charts but there were the occasional remarks from parents who seem to believe that no matter what, their child would never eat vegetables. While I don’t have a child that refuses vegetables (and I am very thankful for that!) I was that kid who “refused” to eat vegetables.... ....

Do you have a picky eater? Are you a picky eater? As I’ve said before I am still clawing my way out of picky eater-dome…I’m pretty sure that isn’t a word but let’s just go with it
Here is the best thing I’ve done to “get over” my pickiness. It works. ....
As a mother of two and a nurse, I really like the idea of “Today I Ate A Rainbow™”. My children all always wanting to put their magnets up when they have ate the foods that will eventually cre...Read More - Stacy McMorran, RN-
