Chef Milo Makes a Rainbow Smoothie

We’ve been spreading our Rainbow Eating message for over 3 years now and by far the best part is connecting with the families that use our Today I Ate A Rainbow kit! It’s so heart warming to know that our rainbow chart is helping kids want to make healthy eating choices for themselves. So we were very excited to watch this video of one of our amazing Rainbow Eating kids ~ Chef Milo! We asked Milo’s dad if we could share the video here with you and he’s also included a gre

Rainbow Veggie Chips

Today we have a special treat for you…a delicious guest blog post from another Rainbow Eating Family…Ellie is one of our favorite Rainbow Eating kids!!!  Have fun making and eating these Rainbow Veggie Chips…such a yummy way to earn colors on your Today I Ate A Rainbow kit! My 3 1/2 year old daughter, Ellie is obsessed with Hannah and Mrs. Kia (well, mostly Hannah), so of course, when she discovered the Rainbow Kitchen videos, we had to try all the recipes. French Crepes – Kids Cook Monday Series!

Have you ever read a book and been so inspired that you immediately take action on what you have learned? That is exactly what happened when I read the new book “French Kids Eat Everything {and yours can too}” by Karen Le Billon. This book is a delightful read that lets you follow a family on their move to France for a year and learn 10 simple rules for raising happy, healthy eaters…and isn’t that what every parent wants!?! Not only does Karen share the 10 food rules, wel

Baked Blueberry French Toast – Kids Cook Monday Series

Hannah wanted to try making a breakfast meal for us this week and let me tell you it was well worth the effort!  And there was definitely a lot of effort! I am getting much better at just letting her do things on her own without chiming in with my advice on how to do it easier or faster!  It’s been a fantastic lesson for me in letting her find her own ways of doing things in the kitchen…in fact it’s also carried on outside of cooking…I’m finding it easier to let h

Pasta Dinner – Kids Cook Monday Series

This weekend Hannah prepared a kamut pasta dish for us, lucky for her, Daddy had just made a batch of pasta sauce so she said it was a very easy meal to make because all she had to do was prepare the pasta and a spinach ceasar salad. Her favorite part was stirring the big pot of pasta pretending to be a witch and cackling loudly!  When kids are in the kitchen you never know what will happen next…or if you’re going to get turned into a frog! Cooking is just like any other life skill

Homemade Granola ~ Kids Cook Monday Series

Hannah’s recipe choice this week isn’t a meal but it’s a great snack that we all REALLY enjoyed!  Hannah made granola bars from The Whole Family cookbook by Michelle Stern, we both love this cookbook because it’s full of great recipes that the whole family can prepare together! We’ve made the granola recipe in this cookbook plenty of times (we’d never go back to store bought!) so we were really looking forward to seeing how the granola bar recipe would turn o

Our Kid is Cooking

Hannah was excited to get back into the kitchen and be in charge! This time she made us Rosemary Pita Chips with guacamole…it was delicious! She found the pita chip recipe in her cookbook called We Can Cook by Jessica Fishman Levinson and Maja Pitamic. This is a great cookbook for kids, not only does it have 75 recipes, it’s full of great tidbits of info and useful tips! She made up the guacamole recipe on her own by mashing an avocado and adding some lemon juice, salt and a little

Kids Can Cook!

Hannah has been helping out in the kitchen for years so we decided it was time for her to take on a bigger role once a week and prepare a meal for us. We are around to offer a helping hand or answer a question but for the most part the whole thing is up to her.  Every Sunday we all sit down together and write our grocery list by planning out all our meals for the week, at this time Hannah picks her weekly recipe from one of her cookbooks and lets us know what ingredients we need to add to our s
