Homemade Granola ~ Kids Cook Monday Series

posted by: Kia

Hannah’s recipe choice this week isn’t a meal but it’s a great snack that we all REALLY enjoyed!  Hannah made granola bars from The Whole Family cookbook by Michelle Stern, we both love this cookbook because it’s full of great recipes that the whole family can prepare together!

We’ve made the granola recipe in this cookbook plenty of times (we’d never go back to store bought!) so we were really looking forward to seeing how the granola bar recipe would turn out!  Hannah’s favorite part was getting her hands all gooey in the mix :)

One of the best parts about making your own granola bar is that you can decide what “extras” you’d like to include such as: raisins, dried cranberries, nuts etc…

The only part Hannah needed help with was taking the tray out of the oven! This girl is going to surpass my cooking abilities before she’s a teen!

These granola bars did not last long…they were delicious and having another successful recipe under her belt made Hannah even more eager to try another recipe! She’s also is excited to make these granola bars to take to school so that she can show her friends what she makes!

I would highly recommend getting your kids in the kitchen because cooking is a skill that lasts a lifetime and of all the things we need to pass on to our children, being able to provide themselves with healthy meals is one of the most important!

Happy Healthy Eating,
Kia
