Munching Your Way To Better Health

posted by: Kia

Hi Rainbow Blog readers!

Alicia here from social well-being company MeYou Health. I’m writing to let you know there’s an easy and fun way to make sure you and your family are eating those good-for-you fruits and vegetables.
With the free iPhone called Munch 5-a-Day from our team at MeYou Health, you can now heed the advice from the World Health Organization and get your daily recommended 14 oz (400 g), or 5 standard portions of fruit and veggies a day to promote good health and prevent disease.

We recognize that many parents are overworked and that eating healthy can be challenging, for the kids and the entire family. Plus, small actions really do matter! So picking an apple (figuratively and literally) for a snack or as part of breakfast, lunch, or dinner is a healthy choice you and your kids can celebrate together.

Munch 5-a-Day has an interface kids will love, complete with realistic sounds from animals roaming on Farmer Munch’s fields. It’s a great tool for encouraging children to eat their greens (and reds, yellows, and oranges)! Kids will also love tracking their accomplishments since they’ll earn silly badges like the “Talking Tomato.”

Easy for both kids and parents to use, you simply tap on a vegetable or fruit each time a portion of one is eaten. Each of these “munches” is recorded, tracking your progress over the course of each day.

Adults get something out of the app too! With Munch 5-a-Day, you can track your daily intake of fruits and vegetables, set goals, and create colorful graphs to monitor your progress. By tilting the phone 90 degrees, you’ll see graphs of your fruit and veggie consumption over the past 7 or 30 days.

Munch 5-a-Day also lets you share your family’s success by posting colorful messages and graphs on Twitter and Facebook to show everyone how healthy you’ve been been, and perhaps encourage them to adopt a healthier diet too!

You can download Munch 5-a-Day for free in the iTunes App Store, and you can also find us on Twitter at @munch5aday or on Facebook. We’d love to know what you think!
