‘Smart-Makers’ Super Fruity Rainbow Smoothie
posted by: The Queen of Brussels Sprouts
Everyone knows that blueberries and strawberries make you smart. Right? Really, they have actually done studies on the little lovely berries, and proven that they do indeed help your old noggin.
SOOOO, I tell the Princesses Three that these smoothies will make them super smart… Prince Charming just slurps up everything I give him at the moment. Being the competitive souls that they are, they snarff up the stuff just to try to be smarter than each other. Silly girls.
How do I accumulate those frozen fruits you ask? Well, when said fruit is on sale and in season, I buy it chop it and freeze it. You can get bags of it in the frozen section as well, but those puppies can be pricey. I also toss any of the above fruits into the freezer if I have bought them and we don’t consume them before they get just to the edge of not wanting to eat them anymore. Our little local grocery store also has a shelf of bruised and older fruits for super cheap. You can pick things up there for 1/4 the price. They freeze quite well, and you save tons of moo-la-la!
This morning, Princess Joy noticed that there was no “green” in the list of ingredients, and wanted to toss in some green grapes. She wanted to get her rainbow stickers BEFORE her sisters, of course. Alas, we had no such grapes. Poor Princesses Joy, she had to eat green later in the day. I would have let her toss the grapes in. Then it really would be a full rainbow.
PS- Isn’t it cool that my 4 year olds know and can point out the full spectrum of colors in the rainbow? I have Kia at Today I Ate a Rainbow to thank for that one!

“I was a little skeptical at first… not that I didn’t think the idea was cute or that it could be used for a learning tool… but I didn’t think it would encourage my kids to eat healthier! ...Read More - Sarah Barnes-
