Stop Picky Eating at your house…it’s pretty easy!

posted by: Kia

Do you have a picky eater? Are you a picky eater? As I’ve said before I am still clawing my way out of picky eater-dome…I’m pretty sure that isn’t a word but let’s just go with it :) Here is the best thing I’ve done to “get over” my pickiness. It works.

Only fill your kitchen with healthy food. Period. That is it. Here’s why that works, if the only food around is healthy, then that’s all that will get eaten.

Remove the junk food and replace it with healthy whole foods like Fruits and Veggies! I know you might say “Oh I couldn’t do that, my child would starve, he/she only eats 5 things, and at least that is better than nothing” that might seem logical but guess what? That is actually encouraging and setting your child up to be an even picker eater! Not fun for you and definitely not fun for them as they get older. Unless they have some medical condition or special need, they can and will eat their fruits and veggies if that is all they have. Your child will not be able to overcome their hunger with stubbornness. It may not be pretty for a while, especially if they have been used to getting their own way and having their pickiness catered to! You may not be very popular for bit but it will be worth it! If you want, you can blame it on me…I can take the heat :) Hang tough, stick with it and be sure to keep healthy snacking foods handy. For example, when you buy a bunch of grapes, before you put it in the fridge, wash them and take them off the stems. Then they will be ready eat right away!

Do you part and then wait and see…hunger is a powerful thing…soon you’ll see them munching on carrots, snacking on grapes, and enjoying a bowl of frozen blueberries!

Happy Healthy Eating!
