Hannah the Rainbow Girl is making a difference!

Hannah the Rainbow Girl is making a difference!

When we started on this Rainbow Eating journey 5 years ago Hannah was just 4.5 years old! I wanted to make eating fruits and veggies fun for her while getting her into the habit of eating produce every single day.  When our rainbow chart worked so well for us and encouraged her to take part in the food she was eating we knew we wanted to make this tool available for other families.  We had a less than tiny budget so we had to do our best to get creative with our packaging and marketing…l

Our friends at Comiditas (they make adorable fruit and veggie toys) also have another site that is all about education for preschoolers in Spanish! They were kind enough to write about us and the concept of eating a rainbow on their site so we thought we’d share it with you! Visit Chimiqui to see their “A comer un Arco Iris!” post and the video! Special thanks to WeeHands for creating the beautiful Spanish version of our Today I Ate A Rainbow song! Happy Healthy Eating Kia

Learn and Play with Mrs A – My first podcast!

I had such a great time being interviewed by Barbara Allisen otherwise known as Mrs. A on her radio show on Monday morning!  This was a first for me and I must admit I was a little nervous…but I shouldn’t have been because Barbara (a kindergarten teacher be sure to visit her facebook page) was so welcoming and easy going…the hour flew by so quickly that I felt like I could talk for at least another hour! We talked about the story behind Today I Ate A Rainbow, how we encourage

What’s in Hannah’s Lunch?

I created this new blog category in hopes that it might inspire you with lunch ideas that are simple, enjoyable, colorful and fun. These aren’t going to fancy foodie pics…I usually snap a quick pic before putting it in Hannah’s backpack! It might seem strange but I actually enjoy making school lunches and I think it’s because of the fun lunch containers we’re using. I would highly recommend getting some great lunch gear because it makes the job of putting together l

Fun Ways to Celebrate Eating a Rainbow!

The biggest reward of eating a rainbow is a healthy body! Of course for kids, having a weekly or monthly celebration or a healthy reward is something more tangible that they can work towards. The way it works in our house is, if our daughter eats a rainbow for 6 days in a row, she then gets to choose a fun activity for the family to do together on the 7th day. Here are some celebration ideas we’d like to share with you: 1. picnic at a park 2. family bike ride 3. going for a hike 4. making

Purple Kale ~ beautiful and delicious!

When we think about eating a rainbow of fruits and vegetables it’s fairly easy to get in your green, red, orange and yellow…but the blue/purple color group can be trickier to work into your diet every day! I am always on the lookout for purple produce. Purple happens to be my daughter’s favorite color so when we go grocery shopping she is always the first to spot anything purple! We were both excited when we came across some purple kale!! We’ve been enjoying our green
