Winter Cold? Eat A Rainbow!
posted by: Kia
Getting sick during or right after Christmas seems to be a fairly common thing! I’m sure it’s due to a number of reasons but the one I want to chat about is food. During the Holidays we tend to relax on the eating rules. We eat less of the healthy options and more of the not so healthy options…like chocolates, candies, baking and heavy foods like mashed potatoes and gravy! The downside of all that tasty food is that our bodies become tired and taxed. Our immune systems rely on us to support it with healthy things like fruits and vegetables!
So if you have a cold going around your house one of the best things you can do is ensure that everyone is back to eating rainbows every day. Lots of orange and dark green vegetables especially! Eating a Rainbow isn’t just for kids it’s for the health of your whole family!!
Happy New Year may it be full of Health and Happiness!

I just want to say that your chart is awesome! Both my kids will eat anything to get a magnet and complete the rainbow every day, and when they do, they always sing the song. The chart also helps me...Read More - Cristina James, B.Ed. ~ Mother of Two, Daughter 5 & Son 3-

Thanks for the great reminder. We did fall into that old rich holiday food eating habit this year, and got a bit ill. We were eating better, and getting the rainbow chart early this new year really helped to make this choice a lot more fun. Our 3 year old Willa has started to be a bit more discerning with what she will eat. She has developed a real affection for cookies lately, and having the chart has been a great concrete focal point for conversations around healthy eating. Willa has responded much more favourably than I expected, and her enthusiasm and interest is a great surprise. Just as many of the testimonials say, Willa seems to feel a great deal of pride at eating a rainbow everyday. She just ran into her dad’s office right after lunch and proudly told him that she had already eaten a rainbow today.
We just listened to the rainbow song this morning, four times. We have made good use of some of the helpful tips, and we love the website. Thanks for this wonderful system that has such a positive affect on the health of our kids (and us).
Hi Kim,
Wow! Thank you so much for the wonderful comment you left us. It’s parents like you that we created this chart for! Your daughter is really fortunate to have parents that are so invested in her health!
We are very excited that Willa has become a Rainbow Kid!!!!! YAY for Willa! The song is rather catchy isn’t it
Thank you once again for taking the time to let us know how the chart is working for your family. We are absolutley thrilled to have such amazing feedback!
